THE intensity of the grief ordinary people are experiencing after the shocking killing of reggae icon, Lucky Dube, should not be underestimated.
Yesterday one blog post on our Planet Blog platform attracted well over 70 tributes from Lucky Dube fans from Africa and all over the world.
The tributes struck a heartbreakingly personal note. Few demanded recriminations and most were written with the sort of love usually reserved for a family member.
South Africa is a nation in both celebration and mourning. Let us make sure that the mourners are not forgotten.

10/22/07 I was putting my children’s clothes in their draws when I heard, over the radio, of Lucky Dube’s tragic death. It brought me to tears for this sad reality affected me as it has with my passed family members. Lucky brought to my life a sense of grounding that encouraged me to think about the way in which I interact with my family,%

When I got the news I could’t even believe it as I was so shocked that I felt the reggae world is gone. I Know Jah gonna rest Dube in peace and his messange gonna roam the whole world forever. I can’t imagine how a person got to point a gun to peace crusader and fricking pull the trigger. “Your song gives me inspiration so nobody would ever kill your messange from this world. Jah protect your destiny.” Lets preach togetherness through reggae. Real Reggae fan from Murang’a, Kenya.

Dube, I couldn’t believe you leaving us so early. Why so early. You really touched my heart when i heard about your death. Dube you have pondered so many beatiful and sensible messages to the whole world. Messages which is correlated to the love of God, to what Jah wants us to be. My God, i could’t believe this gonna happen to you also, that only Reggae Musicians are always aimed to be killed by your own people.
You have taught us a lot. You are the typical singer in this world, you teach so many lessons for us.

Lucky, the Kaivitis here in Fiji loved your song very much, we loved you, the reggae songs you got, very outstanding ones, even the children can sing along with you word by words while listening, which indicates how we loved listening to your music.
We will missed you alot.We were hoping to see you again, but you left us back in tears.

Always remember and loved by the Fiji Fans of yours.May you rest in peace.

Lucky Dube, you have left us in grieved and tears for not the way you look but the messages you gave us in your singing career.

You are the heros of most of this Pacific Islanders especially the Fiji people. We loved Reggae music but yours is rated the best to us. You tried to prevent discrimination among the nations,or the colours of people which has made you an unique singer in this world. The whole bunch of these beys out hears could not hold back their tears while listening to your music at this time after the news of your sudden death.

You are sadly missed by us, The Fiji people.May your soul rest in peace.

I was shocked about the death of this reggae man. At first I thought that this is not true. I thought it was a lie. Honestly these cowards must be brought to book. If anyone kills anyone, that person should be killed as well. Why is that law says life in prison. No. It should not be that. These killers MUST DIE AS WELL.

Still in pain. Rest in peace LUCKY DUBE.

Although they took Dube from us his spirit will live on deep down in all of our hearts and his music will live on in all of our souls forever. As we listen the message in his music tears flow from our eyes to know someone who preached against violence and injustice fell victim to those **** roaches with out brains. He was one of the true prophets of reggae and his music will live on and on. Lucky Dube may your soul rest in peace, My sympathies to Dube’s family and on behalf of country of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

He was the best reggae icon Africa one amongst the very best in the world.surely, the best flower does not live long in the garden, and so is Lucky Dube in the garden of positive reggae. He was snatched at the time when reggae fans thirsty of hearing more social teachings from him.Further more its as if he had had a premonition of how his death will take place through the sayings of his songs. We loved him but since god had loved him most,REST IN PEACE since death is a natural mystic.

I have given myself one month – until 18 October to mourn my fallen hero (Lucky Dube). I will play only his music at home and in my car. It’s so difficult to believe the man who treasured peace could be eliminated in that manner. Lucky’s killers will forever remain CURSED.
May God grant family members all the strength and comfort and may he supply their needs.
Rest in Eternal Peace my teacher!

Lucky when i think of ur death the first thing that came to my mind why good thing never last? why are we so wicked ? why are we not afraid of God? why do people kill dont they have human feeling taking away life? why do we put other people into sadness .My Africans brothers is time we sit up and stop all this nonsense because one day we shall give account on this earth. Lucky am one of your fans who love to listen to your message , all your message really change my life God knows. As for those that take away your life , they have putting a curse to there great great great generation even if they repent. For the family of lucky may God almighty give you the heart to bear this loss. I will always put you all in prayer.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

it’s 20 days now but the hurt in our hearts is still fresh;the feeling is so unbelievable. king of African Reggea & of your own Unique lyrics, your’re completely irreplaceable. What does it take to please some people, taking away such a talent- the only of its kind.

May the Almighty Shower his blessings upon the grieved Dube Family.
