Hi Ray,

Thanks for chronicling this event. I think that it is a truly significant shift in the manner in which the South African government will have to reconsider it’s heavy handed approach to press freedom. If the official channels of the media are stopped from reporting it will simply disseminate to smaller blogs.

I was one of the many who blogged about this sad state of affairs today (and added the yellow ribbon). It was encouraging to see how many persons did the same.

Whilst the small fry bloggers like me don’t normally generate much traffic, every bit helps!

I would like to find like-minded individuals who are prepared to take time off from work to PROTEST this nonsense on the days that Mondli and Jocelyn make their court appearances. Yes, expressing our outrage on blogs is good but I need us to take action.

The t-shirt idea is good. How about placards? And really loud voices?

Any takers? I am very serious!

This is a media issue, but Ray’s headline reads “Bloggers react” not media proffesionals react.

I was just making a point. And I think that The Times have compiled a fantastic list of references using Jaiku (which I have on SA Rocks) so why would I want to do something that has already been done?

Ray could simply have used the tools at his disposal to compile the list, as it is there already.

Ray, I think this is a really bad list of bloggers who have spoken out… you have only chosen media blogs. While in actual fact the impressive thing about the blogosphere is that those who normally talk about sports, girls, and other things banded together and spoke about one single topic.

All you’ve really done is name the media blogs who spoke about the issue.
