ROLLINGSTONE MAGAZINE: 50 artists on music they love: Pick their Top 10 favorites
The 1 article that stood to me was Chris Robinson (front man for the Black Crows):
“As a kid, the Black Crowes frontman wasn’t a Stones fan — but he adored the Byrds: “I came into [the Stones] because of the Gram Parsons association. They were dirty and funky and smart, and there was a ‘we just don’t give a fuck’ attitude I loved.”
“Midnight Rambler” 1969
A woman told me years ago that she saw the Stones in ’72 and masturbated when they played “Midnight Rambler.” I was like, “It’s a song about a guy breaking into a house and raping somebody!” How dark and weird, and yet it’s an incredibly powerful piece of music.
The above was taken from a concert in ’72. I don’t know if it’s the exact one that the lady above was referring to, nevertheless, lets use our imagination
Bono what has to say about David Bowie, what Jack Johnson thinks of Bob Marley, what Annie Lennox schemes about Ladies with soul… the list goes on.

Quincy Jones talks about his new tribute album and what he thought about working with esteemed artists like:
Amy Winehouse, Mary J Blige, T-Pain featuring Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga and more.
From this interview, it seems like he doesn’t respect Mr West to much.
“Us: Kanye West is similar to you in that he’s the producer everybody wants to work with in the last decade….
QJ: How man? No way. Did he write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man. He’s just a rapper. There’s no comparison. I’m not putting him down or making a judgement or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don’t rap. It’s not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It’s totally different to know what to do with 16 woodwinds you know from piccolos down to bass clarinet. It’s a whole different mindset. No comparison. None.
Us: What do you think of him?
QJ: I don’t think about him much. He’s a great rapper, but there are a lot of good rappers. I just did The View with Ludacris, who’s one of my favorites. He’s a beautiful human being and college educated. I joke with him and say, ‘How did ‘Move Bitch Get Out The Way’ come out of you?’ But I was raised around the Mafia when I was a kid in Chicago in the 30s. Chicago’s rough. I’m from the streets, I know what’s up!”.

Meantime, Kanye’s latest album: ‘My dark twisted fantasy’ is receiving rave reviews!
P.s. the original album cover has been banned.
It is a distorted visual of a black man having sex with an over weight white lady.
Check out this amazing video for: Runaway.
There’s also a 34 minute short film available on youtube.
It’s ‘one of her favorite things’.
She calls it her ‘too dle’ car, because she likes to ‘too dle’ around in it.
It hasn’t even been released yet.
It’s not the first time she’s done this.
No one will ever disagree, that this lady, the one, the only, OPRAH WINFREY, is beyond AMAZING!
Watch how insane the crowd goes…
From CNN: TV host Oprah Winfrey gave her studio audience 275 Volkswagen New Beetles Monday as part of “Oprah’s Favorite Things” promotion.
Unfortunately, her audience members can’t get their cars yet because Winfrey gave them 2012 New Beetles. That new version of the iconic curvy little car has yet to be revealed to the public.
The car is expected to debut in the spring of 2011 and will go on sale the following fall, according to VW. Pricing for the car has also not been announced.

A genius marketing campaign on behalf of VW.
Need I say more.

All 4 of these are brilliant and timeless.
The performances are great!
The scripts and executions are also simple.
With over 13 million hits on youtube, this one is worth a 2 minute break.
I couldn’t agree more with the LA Times!
At first I thought my ears were deceiving me.
Some of the performances at this years American Music Awards were beyond embarrassing!
Check this out for the most accurate reviews.
That new Black Eyed Peas song is probably the worst thing I’ve ever heard!
Unfortunately, “I’ve got a feeling” we are all going to hear it a bit too often….

Hott of the press:
“It was BANNED in 23 states.
The US government didn’t want you to see it.
DEEP THROAT was more than just a titillating curiosity, it was the SEXUALLY explicit film that ignited a social and political firestorm.
INSIDE DEEP THROAT examines the politics and the payoffs, the porn stars and the persecution of the cultural phenomenon that remains just as highly CONTROVERSIAL today.
From Oscar Winning Producer: Brian Grazer comes this probing look at the sensational adult film that launched a sexual and cultural REVOLUTION”.
The above extract was taken from the back of my DVD: Inside Deep Throat.
In a nutshell:
Linda Lovelace, a legend in her own mouth , was libertied so badly, she never earned a cent.
It’s a tragic story that any actress would kill, or suck to play
At first, Lindsay was an obvious choice.
I personally think it would’ve been an insane game changer for her to prove herself as a mature actress.
It’s such a pity she can’t get her act together.
CUM on LOL, get your act together.
What inspired me to write this blog was that I saw the news over the net this morning.
Then, while driving home, I heard it as a headline on the 5 o’clock news.
Rumour hasit that the director, Mathew Wilder has told E! News that Lohan will no longer star in “Inferno”, the biopic of Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace.
Wilder said: “We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan… We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working on the legalities of bringing her on board.”
“We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her – and some other issues – have made it impossible for us to go forward.”
Lindsay is to be replaced by Malin Ackerman.

I’ve just checked & the box office for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is now on $330 Million worldwide after its release on Thursday, Midnight.
Checke this out:
Also, please see my previous post wrt this topic.
The name Harry Potter needs no introduction.
“Well done, Potter. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 posted the franchise’s best opening ever by grossing $125.1 million this weekend, according to studio estimates. That figure smashes the wizarding series’ prior opening-weekend record of $102.7 million, held by 2005′s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The new Potter flick also registered the sixth largest opening weekend of all time, landing just behind this year’s Iron Man 2, which debuted to $128.1 million in May.
Deathly Hallows launched its weekend spell late Thursday night when 3,700 theaters screened the PG-13 fantasy movie at midnight. (Some theaters arranged showings as late as 3:15 a.m.). The movie gathered $24 million from those screenings en route to a Friday tally of $61.2 million — the fifth best opening day, period. After Friday, Deathly Hallows essentially followed the box-office trajectory of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which was released on the same November weekend last year. New Moon earned a record $72.7 million its opening day, and then fell 42 and 34 percent on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Deathly Hallows held up a tad better, dropping 38 percent on Saturday (for $38.2 million) and an estimated 33 percent on Sunday (for $25.8 million). While Warner Bros. may have preferred a somewhat steadier ride from Deathly Hallows, no one’s complaining, least of all moviegoers — CinemaScore audiences gave the movie an “A” grade.”

This is the 7th installment and penultimate episode.
It’s been hailed the best in the series so far.

Note: It should be wise for people to at least watch the first six films in order before watching this one, if they haven’t read the books already.
Voldemort’s power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore’s work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for the Trio, and the rest of the Wizarding World, so everything they do must go as planned.
Imagine what Part 2′s gonna rake in?
We’ll see in July 2011.
Last year, around this time, I was carrying on about how AWESOME I thought ‘District 9‘ was.
Now I’m gonna tell you all about my feelings towards:
Has anyone ever heard of FACEBOOK?
Have you ever wondered how this phenomenon began?
Well, look no further.
‘The Social Network‘ convincingly answers most of these questions.
The Plot: (in a nutshell)
On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history… but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications.
At first, he achieves the unspeakable, 22 000 hits within the first 2 hours.
Then… well I don’t want to ruin it for you…
This super geek is beyond any computer nerd you have ever seen portrayed on the big screen.
You don’t know whether to like or hate him.
The overall theme & antagonist of the film is a little word called: GREED.
The sad craving to ‘belong’ is evident from the word go.
Although the film is centered around the phenomenon of Facebook & Zuckerberg, it also focus’ on the greedy characters that try to wrangle themselves into his success.
The only person actually deserving the recognition is the one that doesn’t receive it, (at first that is), Eduardo Saverin.
I’m convinced this film will receive the following nominations at next years Academy Awards:
Film, Director, Adapted screenplay, Supporting actor (Timberlake), Editing, Music score , Cinematography , Sound editing.
The film has already grossed close $85 Million in the USA alone.
The estimated budget was $50 Million.
It’s reached #1 in many countries so far and just wait until it gets released on DVD.
Directed by the legend David Fincher (Se7en, The Game, Fight Club,Panic Room, Zodiac,The curious case of Benjamin Buttonas well as the American version of The girl with the dragon Tattoo, as well as many music videos & commercials).
An interesting fact is that the director actually disapproves of Facebook. He’s not even on it.
Fincher has received critical acclaim from virtually every reviewer in the entertainment world.
He moulds the film superbly and for the 1st time in his resume of intense films, he makes one that actually portrays humans as themselves.
Based on the novel: The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, Aaron Sorkin , whom I believe is probably one of the greatest writers of modern day cinema & television, has masterfully crafted a script that is merely flawless.
The dialogue doesn’t stop for a second.
At first, you might feel like Eisenberg is speaking a foreign/ alien language.
He portrays Zuckerberg so accurately that one can only imagine that’s the way he speaks.
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield (who is also going to be the next Spiderman) and Justin Timberlake, (whom I believe has an Oscar nomination CONFIRMED). Timberlake plays the snappy cocksure Sean Parker, co creator of Napster. His performance is insane!
If you want to read a great review on the performances, check out: www.pulpmag.co.za
Big Kudos to the Casting Director!
The Pace, i.e. The Edit:
The pace doesn’t lag for a second.
The intercutting at first seems a bit confusing, but it all comes together quickly.
The Music Score:
Here’s a little present for you. 5 free tracks from the soundtrack.
The film was shot on an HD camera called the Red Mysterium: (check out this cool article from American Cinematographer).
Other Contenders for next years Oscars:
Don’t get me wrong, the film has tough competition this year, including:
(I might as well give you a sneek peak at my predictions)
The Coen Brothers: remake of the John Wayne classic: True Grit, starring Academy Award Winner Jeff Bridges (another defs Oscar contender for the lead role here, as well as in ‘Tron Legacy‘), Academy Award Winner Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.
I feel that this film will also be nominated for at least 8 Awards. Click on the link and watch the trailer. Me, personally, I can’t get enough of it! Especially the tune they use in it…
David ‘O Russell‘s: The Fighter: Starring: Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, both HUGE Oscar contenders.
