I have to admit, I’m proper jealous of this genius! He’s only 4 years older than me. Not only is he banging the incredible Isla Fisher , but he also has a Golden Globe award under his belt, as well as an Oscar nomination & BAFTA nomination , oh & an obscene bank account.

Sacha Baron Cohen,  is probably one of the most relevant & influential comical satirists of modern day cinema & life.

His latest film, Bruno, sums everything up.

I have never seen so many mixed reviews on 1 film.

After seeing the movie in a dirty and uncomfortable cinema in Johannesburg, I was extremely confused whether I enjoyed the film or hated it.

Yes, it made me feel uncomfortable and violated, but at the same time, the offensiveness made me laugh… hard! Whether you’re closing your eyes in disgust or turning away from the screen because you don’t want to see a medium close up of a mans genitals bouncing around in front of you, the vulgarity still makes you wonder what this freak is gonna do next.

During the film, I had to stop eating my popcorn, as I simply felt sick seeing some of the things this character was doing. The last thing I wanted in my mouth, was anything but my own tongue.

For me, that’s brilliant direction, acting & storytelling.
It’s like a stoner movie…. But NOT!

The film is a satire on any and every walk of life.
Baron Cohen goes no holds barred.
He manages to offend EVERYONE! But at the same time, he shows us the inherent stupidity of how unnecessary B.S consumes so much from us.

Like putting in the effort with a babe you want to eventually come right with, this film will be a stagnant climber. Borat was a sensation! It could’ve easily have gone in the opposite direction.
Bruno’s budget was ±$42million. On its opening day it made $14million in the USA alone. Weekend gross over $30million. No matter how you look at it, only way the film is going, is UP!

During it’s second week of release in the States, the box office dropped to $8.3 million. Harry Potter opened the same weekend, need i say more?

It’s already been banned in the Ukraine.

Word on the street: 1 of my mates felt violated & uncomfortable (as did I), another, who’s a well-known clinical psychiatrist, said he thought it was better than Borat.
From me, if you feel like being repulsed, in a hysterical way, go see it!
If you’re expecting anything like The Reader, don’t go near it!
