IN my childhood the soap Lux was a luxury to bathe in, but now that we all grown Lux has become a little more extravagant than just a soap for the wealthy.
So I found myself reigniting the spark of my memories at the palatial event house of Le Chatelat Residence Guest House Luxury Accommodation in Sandton, which was dubbed House of Lux, on Wednesday night. This is where the who’s who were treated to champers, good canapes and amazing conversations with gorgeous women. Need I mention how beautifully decorated the venue was with flowers laced all over the rooms with subtle pink lighting. And later i learned all this beauty was put together by celebrity caterer Vicky Crease.
Hosted by SA Style Awards Most Stylish Media Personality and Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere, kicked off with talks from Lux brand manager Phumi Bohlela discussing the brand and was later joined by two couples Melanie and Zwai Bala and Zuraida Jardine and Josh Lindberg – who took to stage to share how they keep the spark alive in their marriages.
Soon after we were treated to a mini fashion show with glamorous silk gowns in different colours representing the each colour of the soaps from the range.
Guests there included TV personalities Zizo Beda, Bridget Masinga Khathi, Minenhle Minnie Dlamini, Weza Solange, celebrity make-up artist Nthato Mashishi and more.
Also there was V-Entertainment’s Lalla Hirayama who revealed that she was there for Top Billing as their new presenter, much to everyone’s surprise. Congratulations Miss Hirayama for bagging that job.
As a treat to take home, the guests were treated to lovely brand hampers with body wash, fragrances and soaps and also treats at the macaroon bar where each guest could stuff a small box with as many macaroons as they can.
What a lovely evening, I think Lux has found a sweeter spot in my present memories.
RAPPER Kanye West is trying to bring his influence to bear by calling on his fans to boycott Louis Vuitton.
The rapper pulled the stunt during a radio interview in which he explained his anger at being snubbed by the firm’s vice-president Yves Carcelle, while being interviewed on 92.3 NOW radio.
“I was made for this moment. What happened was while I was out in Paris I wanted to meet with the head of Louis Vuitton, he said I don’t understand why we need to meet with you. I said, ‘let me explain to you why you need to meet with me. Everybody in New York City right now don’t buy any Louis Vuitton until after January. Now do you want to meet with me? Now do you want to meet with me?’ Influence. They think that I don’t realise my power,” said the 36-year-old rapper.
Kanye is hoping his clout will stop fans splashing out on the French brand’s luggage and handbags, which range in price from £300 and £8,000. He went on to share more of his wisdom on Washington’s 95.5 WPGC station, arguing that the Kardashians are changing the way America views interracial relationships.
“A lot of what the Kardshians do, I don’t think they get enough credit for what they do. They prep America to accept interracial relationships. I’m not talking about me, I can hop on a plane. I can date a white woman, I can date a black woman, and no matter what they say in the barber shop don’t matter, because I don’t get my haircut there.
“For the people that do, though, there’s a white woman that’s getting talked down to by her friends because she’s dating a black guy. Now you’ve got a point of reference, that you can say, ‘Well, actually this couple right here, that’s dope’,” he vented.
Heaven only knows what he is on about this time. LOL.
STYLE dominated on Sunday at the Hyde Park Square where the lavish SA Style Awards took place with the best dressed who’s who there to see who scooped the overall winnings.
Founded by publicist Jillian Grogor the awards are fast becoming the most recognised fashion related awards that have seen many celebrities scoop prizes for their effort to dress up at events such as Poppy Ntshongwana, Jeannie D, Pabi Moloi, Lindiwe Suttle, Hlelo and Ntando Masina, Sonia Booth, Jen Su and Bonang Matheba.
And Sunday night was no different as many came out to play and applaud the fashion makers and trendsetters who scooped awards on their 17th year.

Our winners each year are chosen because they have made a mark in their respective fields in South Africa.”
Over 200 guests were treated to red carpet pre-drinks at the Hyde Park Square where interviews and champagne was enjoyed as they mingled before heading upstairs to the Southern Sun restaurant for the rest of the evening. There they listened in to the awards being handed over to nine celebs in different categories and another was handed over to multi-talented TV personality Minenhle Dlamini – who also scooped the most stylish performing artist in film award. She arrived hand in hand with her beau, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune clad in a nude colour Asanda Madyibi gown and bedecked in diamonds from Sivana.
Other guests there included former Top Billing’s Bonang Matheba, Selimathunzi’s Lunga Shabalala, celebrity stylist Dumi Gwebu and celebrity make-up artist Nthato Mashishi.

THE scorching heat did not deter international stars Anthony Anderson and Carmine Giovinazzo from taking part in the 14th annual Gary Player Invitational golf challenge partnered with beverage giant Coca Cola, over the weekend at Sun City resort in the North West.
Playing in over 30 degrees sun at the Lost City Golf Course, the two-day fund-raising tournament had six teams of four where each team would had two businessmen, a celebrity and a professional golfer such as Niclas Fasth, Tony Johnstone, Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne Woods, Retief Goosen, Thomas Levet and host of the four-day event Gary Player.
The celebrities included Westlife band member Brian McFadden, cricketer Herschelle Gibbs, BBC Radio’s Johnathan Joseph and 5FM’s Thomas Msengana.
Barely sweating, Law & Order star Anderson seemed to have found his true partnership in businessman Chuck Colton, Greg Whitaker and golfer Fasth who drove around chatting and laughing during their tee-offs.
“Niclas is a great guy, he carried us when we couldn’t carry on and we did the same for him when he couldn’t do it.
“I had so much fun, it was just like back home except the heat and the baboons who looked like some of my family members back home,” joked Anderson.
Both US celebrities who arrived on Wednesday, joined over 200 invited guests in raising R4-million at a black-tie auction at the resort’s Royal Ballroom on Friday night where guests bid for goodies including a week-long trip to The Masters that was scooped for R350 000 by Chairman of Naked Resorts in China, Grant Horsfield.
Champion golfer Goosen scooped a diamond encrusted baobab necklace for R100 000 while German boxing promoter Wilfried Sauerland purchased the BMW International Open golfing tournament trip for R200 000.
The funds raised from the event will be split between two charities, Wings and Wishes, which funds the transportation of critically ill children to hospitals in the country and the Wildlands Conservation Trust that benefits 60 communities through green jobs like recycling and growing indigenous trees.
Giovinazzo who was paired with Player and businessmen Gideon du Plessis from Old Mutual and Ngan Boon Mac of Nandos, was also chuffed about his team.
“I’ve only been playing for about five years, so I can’t even say I’m a pro compared to Gary, who showed me lots of moves,” said Giovinazzo.
The Player Foundation is on its 30th anniversary and has raised over R500 million to date for charities across the globe through the GPI and has seen others celebrities such as Samuel L Jackson, Angie Everhart, Jack Wagner and Sir Ian Wright taking part. The tournament will wrapped up yesterday afternoon with a prize giving and Anderson’s team was said to be number one of all six teams.
“I taught myself to play golf and have played for the past 16 years, hence I’m such a bad player.
“Funny how no one speaks of us coming first but I’m happy to be here, I’m actually coming back to South Africa to shoot a film in Johannesburg at the end of the year,” said Anderson.
Giovinazzo will be in the country till November 25, where he will visit Madikwe Game Reserve and shoot an insert with MNet for the launch of the last season of CSI: NY.
RAPPER Kendrick Lamar has moved his South African tour dates again.
The Poetic Justice muso was initially supposed to perform in November this year as part of Airey Scott and Miller Genuine Draft promotional event dubbed Miller Boomtown, but was moved to late February in an announcement made in two months ago. Lamar’s reason for rescheduling then was due to his agreement to support rapper Kanye West in his tour that ends in December – which would have coincided with his scheduled SA tour.
This time though the promoters sent a statement stating that they have moved concert dates to 7, 8 and 9 February, which is three weeks earlier than the second dates that were announced. But no reason was stated for the change.
Lamar will perform at Durban’s Wave House in Gateway on February 7, in Johannesburg Stadium the following day, February 8, before jetting off to Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town on February 9.
Fans can rest assured that tickets they have already purchased will still be valid and need not be exchanged.
MULTIPLE award winning singer Mariah Carey has given a candid account of her time on American Idol, admitting she “hated” the job.
The 43-year-old blamed Nicki Minaj for ruining her time on the judging panel during a recent interview on Hot 97.
“Honestly, I hated it,” she revealed when asked about her time on the show. “I thought it was going to be a 3-person panel… but it wasn’t that. It was like going to work every day in Hell with Satan.”
“Satan” was her nod to fellow judge Minaj, with whom she had a high-profile running spat during their time on the talent show.
Chatting and quaffing champagne with Angie Martinez on HOT 97, Mariah then attempted to backtrack.
‘I’m just playing!’ she laughed. ‘It didn’t affect me that much. I was disappointed.’
She also revealed what she liked about being part of the Idol family. – Daily Mail
AMERICAN singer Lady Gaga has hit out at Glamour magazine for depicting her as “too perfect” on the cover of the December issue.
The 27-year-old singer was at Glamour’s annual Women of the Year ceremony on Monday evening when she made the controversial statement against the very magazine giving her an award.
“I felt my skin looked too perfect. I felt my hair looked too soft,” she said of the image, adding: “I do not look like this when I wake up in the morning.”
“It is fair to write about the change in your magazines. But what I want to see is the change on your covers. . .When the covers change, that’s when culture changes.” - Daily Mail
SINGER Jennifer Hudson is living proof that even though reality shows may reject you like she was on America Idol in 2004, you can still make it to the top.
The 32-year-old has added another gong to her name as she was granted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, something she can add to her Oscar, a Grammy and a Golden Globe award.
And it seemed to be an emotional moment for her as she was snapped wiping her eyes as she showed off her legs in an elegant white dress during the ceremony, where she was joined by her husband David Otunga and son David Otunga Jr. She has accomplised alot since starring in hit musical flick Dream Girls in 2006, as she dropped more than 36kgs on Weight Watchers since giving birth to her son in August 2009.
The sleeveless frock featured a draped rounded colour and a tie in the back and wore her new pixie cut in a side parting and opted for a smokey eye and nude lips. – Daily Mail
IT can’t be easy being a Kardashian sibling and be so over weight like Robert Kardashian. The only boy between five very slim girls Kardashian/Jenner sisters is clearly having a hard time keeping his weight off, and the paparazzi ain’t letting him get away with it. On Wednesday the 26-year-old stepped out in all black outfit, looking rather plump.
At least he has admitted to wanting to change his lifestyle as he recently told Entertainment Tonight that “Getting healthy…is huge for me. I’ve really just kind of changed my whole lifestyle with taking supplements and working out twice a day”.
“I really needed a change. There’s just a lot going on in my family, a lot of stress and negative attention. So, this is just part of that positive reset button.’All I’m just trying to focus on is my health and just getting back to that happy point,” he said. – Daily Mail
