Poe’s law: Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won’t mistake for the real thing.

Normally I quite like Matthew Du Plessis’ column, and this week’s one, well it left me wondering exactly which way this was supposed to be.

Which brought about a certain amount of relief as Matthew pointed out it was in fact a parody. Warning signs includes quoting The Telegraph (Essentially, Cracked, a website for a defunct Mad Magazine rippoff is more reliable on its science than that paper), and the fact that he brings up a science fiction novel as a contrast to a major world renowned scientist.

So don’t worry people, Matthew has not been kidnapped by alien pod people, its just his parody of Intelligent Design proponents came a little too close to the real thing.
