The Australian win in Guwahati on Sunday to clinch the ODI series with a game to spare is all the more remarkable since they arrived in the city mentally exhausted from the three-run win only two nights before in Hyderabad.
Vice-captain Mike Hussey admitted on arrival that theAussies were still recovering from that game in which the visitors had made 350, which at one point did not seem to be enough. That was when Sachin Tendulkar was in full flight.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed the defeat in Hyderabad, which turned out to be crucial, on his team’s lack of support for Tendular, who made 175.
“It was hurting and disappointing. But we have left everything in the dressing room. We have two more games to go and that’s what counts now. Whatever has happened has happened,” he said before the game in Guwahati, where the Indians were again unable to match the Aussies.

Aussies are easily the best ODI unit in the world and have the most depth. It’s up to the other cricketing nations to catch up to them.

Exactly right, Maggie.

Reports of the end of Australian dominance appears to be much exaggerated…
