There have been whispers around town surrounding local hip-hop group Jozi parting ways with Brenda Fassie’s son Bongani.
According to DJSbuOnline, the producer and owner of Fassie Records, Bongani, has decided he wants out of the the recording stable Ghetto Ruff because he “had a massive blowout with owner of the stable Lance Stehr.”
“I was told that Bongani left because he was unhappy with the way Jozi has been marketed, money issues and lack of equal oppurtunity among the group, and allegedly blames Lance for these woes. Bongz is not happy at all, so he’s decided to work soley on Fassie Records,” said the close source who was not named.
Just two weeks ago the band launched their latest album at in Rosebank’s Latinova nightclub where Fassie was a no show. Caught on camera by entertainment news channel V-Entertainment, Fassie’s band members Lesley ‘Da Les’ Mampe and Ishmael Morabe, also seemed clueless of the star’s whereabouts.
Morabe said, “Bongz is in studio” while Mampe said, “Bongz is sick”, after they were confronted by the cameraman about what their two different reasons the two simply laughed the matter off and said, “Bongz was sick in studio.”
What is going on in Jozi land, only the band knows.
After several attempts of trying to get a hold of recording boss Sterh, Fassie and his band members, BYT failed to get comment to clarify the matter.
