Saturday, turned out to be a bikini day with a difference, as 287 bikini-wearing South African women descended uponthe streets of Melrose Arch in Johannesburg to help Kellogg’s® Special K® break the Guinness World Record™ for the World’s Largest Bikini Parade. And they did.
Decked out with smiles, sunglasses and even heels, these confident and fun-loving women of all ages, shapes and sizes paraded down 1,690 meters of Melrose Arch Boulevard to break the world record. With high spirits the women led by SABC1’s Live presenter Bonang Matheba celebrated their femininity by making a difference in creating awareness for breast cancer in South Africa, as Special K® made a donation to the non-profit breast cancer awareness group, Pink Link.
Other local celebs there were 5FM’s Grant Nash with his radio co-host Anele Mdoda there to show the girls their support.
The day culminated into a summer celebration, as the Piazza at Melrose Arch was transformed into a summer escape amongst the urban architecture with ladies enjoying the entertainment and festivities on the Astroturfed Piazza that had sexy sun loungers, water pools and even a manicure and pedicure area where the girls could escape to, to enjoy some pampering.
“As a brand, Kellogg’s® Special K® understands the importance of assisting women to look good and feel fabulous, no matter what their shape or size. We were delighted to see tall, short, boyish, curvy, pear and apple-shaped women all have the confidence to do things ‘their way’, and participate in the parade,” remarked Sarah Mansfield, corporate spokesperson at the Kellogg Company of South Africa.
“We decided to front this initiative to break the Guinness World Record™ as we believe in the celebration of women and their bodies, and all the participants most certainly celebrated their femininity, whilst making a difference for breast cancer in South Africa.” concluded Mansfield.
WOW what an amazing time.
